This picture from the book shows the starting grid of the 1940 Patriotic Grand Prix at Applecross. The location is Kintail Road, near the school, and the cars are facing towards Canning Bridge. One of 400 historic racing pictures in the book, it was preserved by the late Jack Nelson, whose small white car, no 4, can be seen at left.
